Our DJI T40, well pretty much any T40 has two mapping modes!! Route mapping mode which I’ve already made a blog and video about >>> https://www.oakdaleuavsolutions.com.au/can-you-map-with-a-spray-drone/ and theres Fruit Tree.
Fruit tree much like Route mapping, utilizes the T40’s FPV Camera to capture map images and wirelessly sends them to the remote controller.
The remote controller then processes (Reconstructs) the images into a 2D/3D map, which is used to create various flight routes.
The main difference between the two modes is, with route mapping it’s designed for flat or fields with slight undulations. Where Fruit tree is designed for more extreme terrain, you know the kind you see in places like China.
The mapping capacity in fruit tree mode is about half (5.3ha) compared to Route mode, as it fly’s lower and slower.
This is so it can pick up alot more detail, which is essential for picking up things like, taller trees and variations in terrain.
This extra information is important when creating 3 dimentional flight paths for the T40 to follow.
Fruit Tree helps make the operation alot more efficient because the terrain and obstacles have already been recorded.
This reduces the drones relience on it’s obstacle avoidance and terrain sensors, resulting in a smoother more efficient application.
