The DJI T40’s Rotary Spraying mode

Spraying or treating individual bushes located in tricky spots has always been a tough job! Especially when on a steep slope or out in the middle of overgrown paddocks that hasn’t been touched for years. But with DJI’s Fruit Tree modes, we have a bit of an ace up our sleeves!

Fruit Tree mode was originally developed to spray orchards on both hilly or flat landscapes. What makes it so powerful is the ability to not only create 3D Flight paths, but to also customise them.

Checkout the T40’s Rotary mode in action!

The Rotary Spraying mode (Spiral mode) is one of many when it comes to Fruit tree, and it’s a good one.

Using Terra’s AI or manually locating tree crowns (Target centres) a custom flight route is created. This tells our T40 Spray drone the exact location of where to apply product.

Once uploaded the Spray drone will take off and fly to the target centre and adjust to the predifined height, then start rotating 360 degrees whilst applying product.

The T40 will continue to spiral and apply product until the predefined amount is reached. Once completed the T40 will either continue to the next target, or return to home and land for refilling.

What makes the Rotating function so great opposed to just hovering during application, is it is concerntrated over a larger area.

The T40 has a spray width of 7metres when placed 2.5 metres above the target and when rotation is applied, thats an area of 38 square metres.

Propwash will also help push product further into the canopy, which is great for bushes or trees.
