DJI T40 Landed infront of weeds

After some time battling with my red machine “MAX”, sadly it was brought to an abrupt halt (with a pile of Rocks) on a hilly spray job out at Canowindra NSW. Oh well that’s why we have Insurance and fortunately they are still making them!

The thing is our P30 was getting old and parts were becoming hard (and expensive!) to source. Also the P30 was simply not up to the task of complex terrain and completing jobs within a reasonable time frame.

The P30 was first released in 2018 and was revolutionary, but now days is considered a toy or obsolete. It’s exciting how quickly Drone tech is developing, but is confronting how quickly machine’s become obsolete.

Spray Drones are a significant investment not only in money but also predictions into the future of what type of work you will be doing, and Wether the service life of the machine is going to guarantee “return of investment” (ROI) before it becomes obsolete.

So I rolled the dice and decided to invest in a DJI AGRAS T40! I know the T40 has been out for a while and soon the T50 will hit the Australian market, but it still holds up reasonably well against its competitors.

Much like it’s predecessor the T30 they have proven to be a highly capable machine and ahead of their time. In the beginning most machines have teething and bug issues, and the fact that the T40 has been tried and tested over many years, has given DJI time to refine and improve it for the Australian market.

Longevity in the market also means greater availability of spares and Aftermarket products to suit the T40 which is also quite handy.

Because most of my work is on complex terrain, I need a machine that has great Obstacle avoidance,  excellent situational awareness and robust communication systems for RTK and controllability.

My T40 definitely ticks all those boxes with its Brilliant FPV camera, sensor technology and Occusync.

The user interface is sooo! intuitive to use, and all the Automated modes are magic. The fact that you can actually map with the T40’s FPV Camera and process it with the Controller! I know I sound excited (Because I am!) but it’s just so much easier to use.

To go out to a job and know exactly what mode to use and how long it will take gives me so much more faith and happiness in completing the most challenging jobs

The other thing is I can seamlessly integrate the Mavic 3 mapping Drone and DJI’s software Terra to plan and complete the bigger tasks with the T40.

I can’t wait to go out and put the amazing T40 to work! 😉👍🚁💦
